As we prepare is a simple anthem suitable for use in services including Holy Communion.
It is a two-part anthem (S.A. or T.B.) with organ accompaniment, but the score includes suggestions for S.A.T.B. choir and it can be adapted for use with any combination of voices.

Lyrics:

We see Your table that’s spread before us; bring to mind Your great sacrifice;
think of the suff’ring, endured to save us, to redeem and give eternal life.

We hear the call of Your invitation; know, by Grace, that we are forgiv’n;
and in obedience and in remembrance break the bread, Lord, and we share the wine.

And as the bread is to His body, as the wine is to His blood,
May we be Christ to all our neighbours: faithful servants of the Lord our God.

And so we pray we may live our lives, Lord, in the spirit in which You lived.
And pray for help that we may love better: in the spirit, Lord, in which You died.

And as the bread is to Christ’s body, as the wine is to His blood,
May we be Christ to all our neighbours: faithful servants of the Lord our God.

And may the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Ghost be with us all now and forever,
